momstown London welcomed Kim Ellig Picken, Registered Yoga Teacher and Owner of "Kim's Yoga to You," to teach a Mommy & Baby Yoga class. Kim's class is designed specifically for postnatal moms so it's part Yoga, part social circle, and ALL healthy and fun!
Moms were encouraged to listen to their bodies and to their babies to make their yoga practice a comfortable, stress-free, and enjoyable one (stopping to feed, do diaper changes, or bounce a fussy baby is no concern here – it's all par for the course in a class filled with wee ones!!!).
At times, there were tots sleeping or crawling and socializing with other babes while their mamas enjoyed a practice all on their own. Other times, little ones wanted in on the action and became part of their mama's practice!
Kim's Mommy & Baby Yoga class helped to: release neck, shoulder, and upper back tension from carrying growing babies, lugging heavy carriers, and/or hunching during feeding; work our cores and our legs while practicing balances and strengthening postures; stretch and lengthen our bodies as we flowed in and out of postures; and use breath, mindfulness, and mantras to reconnect with our bodies and nurture ourselves…and it even included familiar songs and rhymes with a few of the poses!
After our workout, moms and babies alike enjoyed some social time, chatting with one another about joys, challenges, and what's new in their worlds.
